It's the rolls on the newborn baby's legs, the missing front teeth, skinned knees and wrinkles on the faces of those we admire... every detail is part of the story that we want to remember. Let's worry less about what to wear or waiting until we get to the perfect weight... We aren't promised tomorrow, so let's hold onto today. Show me the real you. My studio is the Root in Root & Wander. This is the Root of my business and when I am out on location..that is the wander. I feel so lucky to be able to do both. Join me.

This quote describes the place my feet are currently planted. 
I have been running this little business of mine for roughly 10 years and I truly feel like this is likely the middle of my story in many ways. 
For so many reasons I am lucky to be able to do what I do. To be someone that loves being creative and to have found a way to make money doing that is one of the best experiences. During the first half of my journey there were many times that I had to shoot just to keep the money coming in (and don't get me wrong..I still need money!) BUT I want to earn that money doing things that also enrich my soul and fuel my creativity.
So the other day with the help of my magic wand (AKA my mom) ..we tackled the studio. For too long I have let the space intimidate me. It's huge and it's...inside..and it was pretty empty. I was always trying to fill it with a few things folks might like from props and baby items and small setups that didn't flow and never what felt good for me. 
So we had a long talk and I thought about what story telling meant to me. My heart doesn't feel as much when I'm posing people...I much prefer to be outdoors! But it's CNY and it's not always an option and lot's of my families with new little ones loved the lifestyle feel but not necessarily in their own homes. So I set out to create a space that is clean and soft and simple~this is the foundation. I have everything you will need to create a beautiful story and I welcome people to bring along what works for their family. That could be a special blanket, books, an heirloom item..things that help to tell your story. The curtains on my bed set can be raised up out of the image (see examples in the album) to create a more traditional feel. The big old barn wood wall is still plain so that I can do cake smashes or anything requiring simplicity. 
I'm really in love with the new design and direction and can't wait to be more present in my soul when shooting.
